saving MS word 07 doc while in safe mode

MS word 07

I was wondering if it is a normal default function not to be able to save a new word doc while in safe mode.

I can open an existing doc, mod it and "save." I cannot do a "save as" with an existing word doc.

That goes the same with any of the MS office programs while in s/m. Thanks

The question is why is your computer in safe mode?

Funny you ask ....... black screen w/cursor ....... IE random pop-ups and web pages loading that I did not request/select. A win32/alureon.h problem. I had one of those rouge pop-ups that said my system was infected and that it needed to scan my computer. Task Mgr was the only way I could shut it down, but it infected my machine and MSE's latest definition that was updated just 7 hours prior to that occurring did not catch it. I have run all sorts of malware and virus scanners and removed issues identified. I then ran onecarelive and it found win32/alureon.h problem which I am working on with assistance.

MS answers discussion below, outlines potentially what is going on with my vista 32bit system.

You need to sort out the malware problem before worrying about saving in safe mode. If you have problems getting rid of the malware try posting in the system security section.
