Uninstall program

I downlaoded GFI Backup 2009 then decided I no longer wanted it. I unistalled using Revo but I notice it's still showing on my Program Files on 'My Computer.'

I had major problems unistalling, something went wrong and I kept getting a warning:

Install Log File Missing

but eventually it went. Or so I thought!

How do you remove something which technically seems to have been already removed?

I'm a novice so Primer One stuff please:)

Hello LIT.

If it wasn't too long ago that you did the install, see if a system restore to a point before you did the install will remove the left over bits, have a look at the tutorial at the link below; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

Another solution, is to try Ccleaner. There are probably just remnants of the program remaining, which will be taken care of with Ccleaner. My choice is no better or worse than TBK's, excellent idea, just different. My solution is the way that I would go first.

Hi Guys, or Gals,

Thanks for the feedback. Tried System Restore-no success. Use CC Cleaner all the time, it didn't work as well. Tried to remove it with a command prompt-no success.

Still open to offers!

Thanks,

First, two guys here LOL

In any event a little twist on BFK idea. Use system restore to the point just before you uninstalled. Then use revno to remove. I think that would work

Hello LIT,
If Revo wont un-install the app, then take a look at these, there must be one in there that will do it.
Most are freeware, so you wont have to pay anything.

Easy uninstaller is a fast, advanced, powerfu Revo Uninstaller is a freeware utility

Also, the piece of software still showing in program files, is it a folder ?, if it is,then it would be safe to delete, as you have run Revo, and it will have un-installed all the bits of this app from your system.

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

stoneys-nutz,

Thanks for your input. Here's a screen-snapshot of the file information on my computer:

Some of these files contain relatively no information, although the backup one is considerable. So having deleted all of this, I'm unclear why it's still here:mad:

I don't come here often but I am really impressed by the quick response I get on my problems!

Thanks,

LIT

Can you confirm that you have rebooted since un-installing this software, i know its basic stuff, but i have to ask, imagine the red faces if i didn't, and that was all it needed.

SN,

I reboot my computer at least once a day. And yes, it's wise to check. The primer-one stuff is always worth checking.

As a last resort, and as something went wrong with the un-install, i would re-install the software, then try un-installing it again, this time the un-install may go smoothly.
The parts that are left, are they in a folder, can you tell me their exact location, thanks.

Stoney has given excellent advice. What I do however, is to go back with SR, to point that program was installed and then try to uninstall. Use Revno and ccleaner to finish the job.
