Weird Startup Problem

OK. I have this really strange problem. Let me give you an example, for instance, AIM. I used to have it autostart, but now it is a nuisance, so I disabled it in msconfig. Now, when I start my computer, it still starts.

I have checked AIM's settings, and "Start with Windows" is unchecked. I looked through all startup items in msconfig along with services. I have checked the startup folder in the start menu, and even both "Run" keys in regedit. Also, I have used Glary Utilities Startup Manager, and even deleted the AIM entry.

Also, I have a similar problem for John's Background Switcher (a nice program by the way), except that it tries to launch TWICE. I get the message "John's Background Switcher is already running. Wold you like to launch the settings dialog?" to which I obviously respond no.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? My system is a gateway P-7811FX running Windows Vista Home Premium x64 (hopefully windows 7 soon).

Sorry, but I already said I tried this. Thanks, though. 2nd paragraph, first sentence.

In the AIM preferences "Sign On/Off" category,
be sure that "Make AIM my default instant messaging program"
is disabled. Restart your PC to have changes apply.

Like I said, I already tried that. Doess anyone else have any ideas?
