skype - wont work

i need to download skype from Skype 4.2 for Windows - Download the latest version of Skype and get free computer calls

i follow all the instructions and just before it fully downloads it says


we are having problems connecting to the download server.

to download an alternative for skype, click the "download" button.


i do that and it keeps happening

ived try downloading with both internet explorer and firefox and it still doesnt work

and help ???

All i could suggest is try again later, maybe they are having problems with their download server.

I am having a similar problem. I downloaded Skype 4.2 and Skype 5.0 Beta. Both versions installed correctly but Windows would not let the application(s) open. I unistalled, reinstalled, restarted...everything I could think of. I finally had to install it on an old XP machine. The beta works great there. Unfortunately, it's not the computer I need Skype on tho! I've been all over the web looking for solutions. Any suggestions?
