vista and w7 dual boot problem....please help .

hi guys.
i installed windows 7 in my vista machine as dual boot.
windows vista is in c drive while i installed windows 7 to d drive.
when i boot to windows 7 i see that c drive letter is changed to d and d drive letter is changed to c.

any help to see the same letters like when i boot to windows vista.

yeah that is the exact problem whenever i boot to any one of the two windows the windows shows his own drive where the windows files are installed as c: without changing the name of the drive what i mean that the windows likes to call his drive (letter only) as c: letter.
so is there any way to get rid of this problem cause that makes me confuse using the drives while using different windows.
hope that makes the problem clear so i get helped as soon as possible.

This is normal. On a multi-boot system, such as mine, the disk/partition containing the currently active OS will be designated as C: and the others will be assigned accordingly. What I do is to label the partitions (just as you would label a floppy or USB stick after formatting it) so that I know what is on that partition.

Just to illustrate what I mean. This is how my system is set up. Note how the different drives for the OSes are labeled with the name of the OS. When I boot an OS, that drive takes on the C: drive letter.

If memory serves me correctly, it depends on how exactly you installed the second operating system. If you install your second OS from within Windows, generally it will keep the same drive lettering scheme you had before.

If you however install it booting from the CD, it can vary depending on how Windows detects the drives. But once its installed, I don't really know of an easy and/or feasible way to change the OS drive letter.
