Advanced Vista Optimizer

I'm looking for something for Vista Ultimate x64 in the registry department. Something (or many things) that can optimize, defragment, and rebuild it properly. Even a registry cleaner, but something that is gentle and wont in its fervor suck my computer's life expectancy. Can anyone recommend something similar to what I'm looking for? I would rather not if it isn't gentle on my already teetering system

Hart, with your best interests at heart (no pun intended), dont use any registry programs. They are not needed for vista and cause problems. Here is my list of everythigng that has to be done. Be back shortly with the list.

Steps that I did not notice on the guide include:

Running a scan disc before doing a defrag

Using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Making System Restore points, at least once a week

Makaing a system Image once a month (varies by user)

Not relying on your A/V common sense, should prevail. You know of many sites can cause a problem.

Do not use any reg cleaning or optimizing software.

Download and use Ccleaner. about once every two months

right click and choose edit to view the .VBS and .bat files for CMD line parameters.

Do you have them setup in task scheduler to run automatically every day or do you actually manually run each every day? In either event, I'd have to agree with you that that may be just a bit over-the-top. Do you honestly think doing all of this (plus whatever else you do which is no doubt everything Richard mentioned and more) helps out enough to be worth the effort? I mean, when you first started doing it, did it make a noticeable difference?

I first run ccleaner, then I run all the files as admin then I sandbox (new toy ) my web browsing.

when I'm finished, I run them again and shut down.
