Solved Use Window Live Mail 2011 with Office

By default MS-Office 2003/2007 (Word, Excel, etc.) refuses to open WLM 2011 if you select the "Send To" option... It will always run Windows Mail (Vista) or Outlook or simply ghosts those options instead.
There is a solution to make it use WLM as the default email program though (remember to set WLM as the Default program from the OS!)... just follow the steps 'Method 2: Verify the registry settings' from The "E-mail" command is missing or is unavailable in Excel 2007, in PowerPoint 2007, or in Word 2007

Happy WLM + Office to all!

Perhaps I misunderstood what you wrote. If not, please elaborate.

I had just installed Windows Live Mail 2011 about 3 hours ago.
After reading your thread, which by the way is a little foggy to me as English is not my first language, I went to my 2007 PowerPoint presentations which I created, right clicked on one of them > clicked Send To > clicked Mail Recipients. WLM 2011 opened up WITH the ppt attached.

That's good for you. Try also with Word and Excel.
For me for example (had Vista SP2 + Office 2003) 'Send To' forced Windows Mail to open, even if WLM was set as the default email program. After I registered it as the default program in another way the Send To item become ghosted (!)...
The trick above solved all quirks for me and since I've read some other users to complain about WLM not opening as the default email program within MS-Office on the net I posted the hint here... Maybe for MSO 2007 it's already been fixed with automatic WUS updates.
