Welcome
While using Internet Explorer go to tool
In tools>internet options
advanced
reset
This will remove all plugins
Yoiu will have to install them again.
My hope is that when you go to play your video. You will get a notice to install, flash or whatever. This should give you a fresh start.

In lieu of that try from another user account

Try using System Restore from before the problem

Try a new users account first,
Then the reset
Then System Restore.
Doubtful about reset, since it does not work in FF, too.

Hi innocentboy,

Go to IE, Tools, Manage Add-ons, and check the Microsoft section to see if the Windows Media Player Active-X control is enabled. If not, enable it. If so or if it is missing, read on. As far as Firefox goes, here's an article on how to get and install the WMP plug-in: Windows Media Player - MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

Assuming you have WMP11 installed, make sure you also have the upgrade installed as well: Cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista. This may install the Active-X control for your browsers.

I'm not sure this will help or if you already have it, but try installing Adobe Flash Player: rich Internet applications | Adobe Flash Player and see if that solves the problem.

You can also try Real Player: Media Player: Download the Best Media Player Free | RealPlayer and Quicktimes and iTunes Apple - QuickTime - Download. These may also resolve the problem.

I hope this helps. These other players, besides being useful for different types of content on the web, may install the requisite Active-X control(s) when they are installed and that may take care of the issue with all of them. If not, then perhaps you can view the videos using these players instead of whatever you are currently using and thus avoid the problem.

Good luck!

Hi innocentboy,

Can you post a link to the video(s) you are having problems with, that would probably help to give you more detailed help if none of the above doesn't solve your problem.
