Change default language

Hi,

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64, For some reason upon installing it, It installed the russian language. It took me a few minutes to change it to english but some of the text is still in russian, Trying to change the default language to english seems difficult as it says "The language can't be selected because it is the system language (default language of the user interface)."

I have changed the format, location, keyboard and input language and the administrative language.

How do I change the default language to English so I can uninstall the Russian?

Hi,

The English language has already been installed. Its working as should, Its only showing the Russian on the logon/welcome screen and in small parts on the OS.

I just need to uninstall the Russian but I cant because of this message:

The language can't be selected because it is the system language (default language of the user interface).

Hi Jaymie1989,

Although designed for use with another method of adding language packs to non-Ultimate versions of Vista, the following may work for this method as well. Keep in mind that I am far from certain it will work in this case, do not really recommend the procedure because I'm not positive about it (but present it as an option for your consideration) and you try it at your own risk. Since it involves editing the registry, I strongly recommend before you even start that you create a system restore point AND backup the registry to be on the safe side. Here's the procedure: Workaround to Change System Display Language When Vista MUI Install Tool Fails » My Digital Life.

If you decide to try it, I hope it helps.

Good luck!
