Is there any programs like notepad that let you change font and back ground colors?

I have pondered this for a while but today is my day off.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a program where you can change back ground colors and font colors on an application like notepad or even notepad it self?

any suggestions will be appreciated.

There is always Wordpad in Start>All Programs>Accessories

Or you may want to use a free program similar to the Microsoft Office Suite

You asked for a Program that could change the colours of another application like Notepad - Don't worry too much my Mind works differently than most peoples do but would rather not reveal why on the interweb

This editor is highly configurable for background color, font, font size etc.. Also even the free version has column cut & paste:

EditPad Lite - Free Text Editor for Windows

I've been using it for years. Only reason I didn't buy the Pro is I don't need super heavy duty text editing. For programming I usually use the IDE for the programming language.

this is pretty cool
i just have one question,whenever i type the line insertion is like a pale gray but my font is green and back ground is black....is there a way to make the insertion line go away or do i just have to deal with it?
