Solved SolutionCenter CD request on boot

Hi guys,

On a computer in my house, after I log in after a boot, the "preparing to install" window appears, the status bar gets to about 75% and then a window appears requesting for a CD-ROM, or for me to browse for an msi package, in order to install "SolutionCenter." I don't think this is in any way related to Vista's built in solution center as this still functions correctly.

Any ideas on what this is/how to stop it?
Thanks
Macca

Hi welcome to the forum.
There have been a number of attempts lately by unsavoury third party individuals to try and con their way into computers.
I am not saying this is definitely one of them.
But to make sure would you please:-

First, to assist in the elimination of possible virus and/or malware.
I would ask you to please use your Anti-virus full scan program facilities, making sure, you have updated the software first. Please advise us of the results.

If you do not have any anti-virus loaded please go to this link and download Microsoft Security Essentials :- Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware

Secondly, please download:- malwarebytes Malwarebytes a Malware searching program, again, an updated full scan. Notify results please. Both these programs are Freeware
If you find any problem scans please do nothing to the computer.
I will contact the forums security specialist who will examine the details.
Therefore any logs produced please keep
Thank you.

Hi,
If that is after both full anti-virus and malwarebytes scans that's great.
But, we now have to look elsewhere?
Do you have, or have you had, Firefox or others similar on that computer?
