Under my vista 32 bits, I get the following error when installing Frameworkd 3.5 :

So I decided to uninstall all my previous versions with .NET Framework cleanup tool from .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User's Guide - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs and reinstall again Framework 3.5 but still have the same troubles.

Please download this tool, and allow it to run in the background whist you carry out the other steps outlined here: Tool to automatically collect and cab VS 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 setup log files - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Then please download this .bat file to your Desktop: .NET Framework 3.5 Installation validation tool - Aaron Ruckman's Web Log - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Please create a new folder on your Desktop called LOGS.

Now please open an Elevated Command Prompt: Elevated Command Prompt

and execute these commands, pressing enter between each one:

cd %UserProfile%\Desktop
NetFx35_detect_issues.bat
Winmgmt /verifyrepository

Please now right click in that Command Prompt window, and click on Select All > right click again.

Now please create a new text document in your LOGS folder called cmd.txt, open it, and right click > paste. Now save that document.

Now please copy into your LOGS folder the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder.

Now, once the collection utility (collect.exe) we started first has completed, please copy to your LOGS folder %temp%\vslogs.cab (usually C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\Local\Temp\vslogs.cab)

Now right click on your LOGS folder > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload that resulting zip file to any file sharing website of your choosing, remembering to give it public access rights, eg Live Skydrive, or Easy Share. (BTW, if you know how, and want to use a better compression technology, eg .7z or .rar, you are more than welcome)

In your next post, please post me a link to this archive, and also, tell me where you got this copy of .net from (eg Windows Update, standalone downloaded from Microsoft etc. etc.)

It is late, and I shall go through all of the logs tomorrow, if that is OK, but one thing stands out:

L'espace de stockage WMI est INCOHÉRENT.

I didn't even need Google Translate! (although knowing all possible return messages might have helped, just a little!)

The WMI Repository is INCONSISTENT.

Please launch another elevated command prompt, and enter:

Winmgmt /backup C:\WMIRepository.dat
Winmgmt /resetrepository

Don't worry if the backup fails. It really doesn't matter. But if it fails to backup, it will stop the service, hence making the reset more likely to work! Any improvement?

This time WMI seems to be working, look at the following :

C:\Windows\system32>Winmgmt /backup C:\WMIRepository.dat

C:\Windows\system32>Winmgmt /resetrepository
