How to uninstall Chrome if WinExplorer not responding?

Hi all, I really hope you can help me out with this one.

Last night another family member installed Adobe Reader on my desktop computer and this automatically installed Google Chrome without asking. I had already installed Chrome on this computer, for my own user profile. Last night for as long as the pc was still on everything worked fine. But I tried to start Windows today and it seems that the double Chrome has caused Windows explorer to misfunction. Nothing works apart from programs for which I had a quicklaunch icon and the task manager - even then commands take too long to respond. I've already tried the manual way of uninstalling Chrome (Manually uninstall Google Chrome in Windows - Google Chrome Help) but the directory mentioned in the end never opened. Any solutions?

Welcome
Try this
If you can get the computer to work, go to search and type default. In default, make IE the default browser. This should get the computer to at least work normally and we can start from there.

Hi Richard, thanks. Chrome wasn't set as the default browser... I checked when it worked for a while. I left the command to open the control panel running until it finally gave a response after 1 hour or so... The CP opened normally, and just as I was about to open the "uninstall programs" dialog, I got a blue screen and Windows restarted..... This is weird..

Tried that too 2 hours ago or so, I never got a response from the command... Maybe if I wait longer. But for the time being Windows won't even start :S Thanks a lot for your help anyways!

Try to boot and continually hit f8. If that does not work, post.

I did it, then typed rstrui.exe in the command prompt and nothing happened. Instead, I got one of the same lines: windows\system32>
Isn't that what I'm supposed to type?
