Windows vista problems

Hi. I have a Toshiba satellite A100-036 laptop with windows vista home basic 32 bit and I have the following problems.
1.They replace me the hard disk at a store. I only have the Toshiba recovery dvd that I used to format the windows. They told me that I can't use it any more because the restore partition of the disk is lost. If I want to do a format again what do I have to do?
2. Every time I turn on the laptop the touchpad scrolling doesn't work. I go to control panel > mouse and it shows me this message. Untitled1.jpg I click No and after that it works again and the synaptics pointing device icon appear again in the task bar. If I restart the laptop it doesn't work again and I have to do the same things.
3. Every time I turn on the laptop the bluetooth doesn't work and the bluetooth icon doesn't appear in the task bar. I have to go to device manager, unistall the driver, go to control panel > bluetooth local com and it works again. Every time I turn on the laptop I have to do this.
4. Every time I turn on the laptop the security center is turned off and I have to turn it on or the automatic updates are off and I have to turn them on.

5. Some times it doesn't install the automatic updates and it shows me this message.

Could anybody help me? Thanks.

How long ago was the work done? If it was recent I wouldn't let them buffalo you. If you start fixing things yourself then they'll have an out by saying the machine was not in the condition they put it in when these things happened.

Maybe someone who has experience documenting a complaint that work was done is such a fashion as to partially hose the system can suggest ways of strengthening your case or getting the people who did the work to make good.. assuming of course that the events are as you relate. (I'm not doubting what you write. It's just to be fair to the technicians since they aren't here to make their case... not that we want to get any Judge Wopner thing going on here.) :)

But in any case general suggestions how to document your case seem like a helpful thing, without necessarily taking any side in the dispute.

The work was done recently. The problems started after the first automatic update. The technician who replaced the hard disk told me that there is a problem with the automatic updates and the synaptics for the touchpad problem, but I don't understand why I didn't have these problems before the hard disk replacement.

It sounds plausible. Can you roll back the update?

If push comes to shove you could get an optical USB mouse for around $5 or $6 from Walmart.com. I got one just because I hate using the touchpad. Also they have a super cheap mousepad $.97 or so. If you have a FedEx Office Store nearby many computer peripherals like keyboards, mice, you can have them sent to that store with no shipping cost. You get an email when the stuff arrives and just pick it up. But I digress. How about downloading the touchpad driver directly? Toshiba must have a driver download page where you put in model and OS to get the right driver.

I already have a wireless mouse. I didn't try to roll back the update because the problem will come back again if I make a new update.

At some point I think it makes sense, when the machine is running well and stable, to stop modifying it. The old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." With so many fixes going on at once the odds are in favor that one thing gets fixed while 2 are broken. I try to go with fixes I think I need, until an SP comes out. Sometimes I can't install those anyway. It gets circular. If you think you can revert to a previous driver I would do that and stop updating.

I tried to install the touchpad driver from synaptics but it didn't work. The technician installed me a file with touchpad driver and didn't work either.
