Uninstall problem

I had problems deleting a program so ended doing the following:-

I downloaded a program (datacrow) which I decided afterwards I didn't want so tried to uninstall it using the unistaller program with it. This said it worked (I noticed the desk top icons vanished) but the program and associated files were still in the 68X folder. So I tried using the Vista uninstaller but the program didn't show up in the program list. So i tried to delete the whole folder (assuming the uninstaller had removed the necessary bits but just left the files), this didn't work as it said a file was open so I went to task manager and stopped the program then deleted all the whole folder from the 68X folder.

In hindsight was this wise or should I have taken an alternate route?

It's hard to say. If the program left registered file types behind in the Registry you may be able to clean them out using CCleaner. I would make a Restore Point before running CC and also allow it to make a backup file before it cleans the Registry.
