Vista - Nero and Firefox Issue

For some reason I cann't get the latest version of nero 7.8.5.0 and firefox 2.0 to work .For nero the setup extracts the file , box comes up for the setup and then it crashes.

For firefox , Iam getting dll erros. anybody had the same problem with either one.

are you running the installs as administrator ??

yeah , i am part of the admin group.

I had exactly the same problem and i found out the folder where those programs write information (or something like that) has writing disabled.

All you have to do is go to first make sure you can view hidden files which will be under organize, folder and search options,view, show hidden folders.

then go to C:\users\*your username*
right click on appdata
click properties
uncheck read-only
hit ok
apply changes to this folder, subfolders, and files
hit ok again

This should solve your problem.

if the above doesnt solve your problem you need to right click on the install and run as admin

I did the appdata and run as admin fix , I get the box which says nero setup is starting and wait while windows configure and the setup never starts again . No error whatsoever ?

Well do you have UAC turned off?
I know that some programs need it on for some reason in order to install them (at least adobe reader needed it), so if its off try turning it on, restart and try to install.
If this does work then you can just turn it back off and the program should still run after its installed.

can you see nero unpack all files without error

yes nero extracts all the file to appdata folder with no error. not sure why this is so hard just to install nero .

im out of ideas except for re install vista and see how you go with a clean install
