Beep sound is gone!

Hey everyone. I recently upgraded to Ultimate 64-bit on my HP laptop. I was recently using Dev C++ and when I tried running one of my scripts I noticed that the beeps that I had added wouldn't work. So I checked my device manager and noticed that the system beep wasn't there:

And yes I know that most people try to get RID of it, but I really need it for my programming class.
Thanks!

ok that may be true that your system beep device is not there. So your program does the beep though the pc speaker, the old ms-dos style beep speaker, instead of through the windows directsound api? I'm having a problem understanding why you just don't write your program to use directsound, there's a beep in there that'll work with any machine that has directx installed... well there's more than beeps you can make but all I'm suggesting is that you should write your program the correct way if you're writing it for windows.

Well you see, unfortunately I'm still a noob at programming so the only beep that I've learned (at school) so far is the /a in c++.

I checked out the links but I don't know much about c++ so I can't really make much use of that, but thanks anyways.

Thanks Drew! I can finally rest in peace knowing that I didn't do something stupid to get rid of the beep, but that it was actually windows which got rid of it.
