Staticy Sound.

When I play music, theres a small static sound that comes from my speakers, and its pretty annoying. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to annoy the hell out of me. Never did this when I had XP, so I know its a vista problem.

It also happens when I scroll through pages, or close tabs, just a little static for the second i do something.

I have a Audigy 2 ZS

I have downloaded the lastest drivers for it, and yes they were 64-bit and for Vista.

If my system specs are needed,

Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1
2gb ram
intel core 2 duo E4500 2.2ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT

I remember when the first longhorn (Vista) betas more than 3 years ago and they had the same problems with sound it does today...unfortunatly theres no known 100% method of fixing the problem, First try uninstalling the sound device and rebooting to see if that fixes the sound or if its still not working usually the only other method is reinstalling vista. :(

My Computer

alright, i'll try that.

i had this problem last time i was running vista, and this is a clean installation, so reinstalling vista isn't going to help me.

edit: reinstalled the driver, still pops.

A reinstall was the only other way I have found to fix this problem if reinstalling the drivers had no effect, it only occurs on some installs and not others.

My Computer

yeah, reinstalling my drivers doesn't seem to be working.

i have the same issue, some sounds have a staticness to them, for example if i go into sounds> and play the asstriks sound it will have a static-ness about it. i have swapped the speakers and its the same, also updated reltek drivers to latest ones and no change, i think i am going to buy a sound card and use that instead of the onbaord sound and see how i get on.

My Computer

yeah, lame thing is, mine isn't onboard, and cost over 100 bucks.

Sorry, I realise this is an old thread, but I think this may help for people who come across this topic.

Basically, this is what I did to fix it (for my Microsoft LifeChat device):
>Control Panel
>Hardware and Sound
>Sound - Manage Audio Devices
>(Select your SPEAKERS)
>Properties
>Levels
>MUTE Microphone and turn it's volume down.

Hope that helps!
Again, sorry for the old topic post.
