On their website it is recommend that you UNINSTALL the previous version before installing this new one. But it's no necessary. So in term you can just install this over your previous version and your settings should stay the same. Though I can't confirm this as I follow the recommended procedure and did a fresh install.

How To Change Default Player. When Click FLV File I Need To Choose With Program Will Open It. After Choosing VistaCodec Icon Lost Why?

Vista Codec Pack has Been updated with download links above...

32bit package changes include:
- add thumbnailing for several filetypes
- improve MP4 shortcuts (splitter choice)
- update ffdshow rev 2045
- update AC3filter rev 1.51a
- update Gabest's splitters/decoders rev 673
- add spdif configuration (not installed by default)
- PLS playlist recognition (not installed by default)

64bit package changes include:
- update ffdshow to rev. 2045

I use Vista Ultimate x64, do I need to download and install 32bits and 64bits codec or just de 64bits?
Does this codec play mkv, avi and other formats on media player and media center?
Subtitles are ok?

You need both the 32bit and the 64bit - install the 32bit first.
