Sorry to do this to you guys, but I am in urgent need of some help here. With XP my system worked just fine, but now with the same and working microphone headset (some $20 logitech thing, no drivers, you just plug it in and use) I need to record sound but nothing is working. By tomorrow evening, I must have Sound Recorder working from within Vista, as well as Ventrilo, Team Speak, and Second Life (though I am okay with that one, but the other two concern me.)
Thing is, I have a presentation for my community college admins tomorrow night and they don't think that first off, computers are neat. They still question their use... like impressive things like Second Life, Wikipedia, folding at home, etc, like those aren't useful....
Anyways, I have a creative X-fi soundcard with surround sound speakers (or used to be in XP.) It has 4 ports, 3 for the speakers and the 4th is left open and I used it as a microphone jack for XP. Then I have my motherboard jacks, an up to date 6 pin color coded block of pins. Then I have my front panel, and also my speakers' volume remote control thing, that has a port also. The trouble is, first finding out what port is what. The second was I had it working, but when I would close out of the recording page thing, it would just begin to mute the options I needed. Like "oooh! I know why it didn't work, this line in option was muted! And not it isn't" and then I would close it and it would mute itself once more!
Then there is the 3rd problem, I have a waaaay too populated list of ports and such. I don't know what is what and this really is terrible.
Then the 4th issue, I don't have Team Speak or Ventrilo set up to get it going. I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to take a moment and invite me into their TS or Vent server and help me make sure things work out great. I really would appreciate this....
