Upgraded from XP Pro and now no sound??

I am no computer whiz either, all I know is its an onboard video card and a Intel D865GVHZ mother board.

Everything works fine except the sound and its pretty harsh having no music LOL

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Upgraded from XP Pro and now no sound??

It means you need drivers for your sound card....

according to Intel® Desktop Board D865GVHZ - Product features you have integrated AC '97 Audio. That should be supported automatically by Vista, but you may need to get the very latest BIOS for that motherboard for it to support Vista.see Download Search Results for the latest BIOS. When Looking for the latest Drivers, Vista is not listed as an option at all, but when looking under all operating systems, I see
Quote:
Integrated audio driver for Intel® Desktop Boards with AC '97 processing with the RealTek* codec. (WHQL certified)
- which means that New Realtek HD audio driver update (the second part of the first post, Vista WHQL Supported Models:
AC97

RELEASE DATE: 5-23-08
DRIVER VERSION: 6285

Is what you want to download for your system.
