Mic Boost

Can someone post the regedit for enabling mic boost for vista ultimate x64? I had it before but then reformatted and lost the directions. Please help and thank you very much.

Re: Mic Boost

Hi Cakewalker and welcome to the forums

This is actually easier to do through audio properties. I don't know what audio you have on your system, but the following step by step instructions are for mine and should be easy to adapt for yours. If you want specific instructions, please supply more details of your system.
Dwarf

1) Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray.
2) Select 'Recording Devices'.
3) Highlight 'Microphone'.
4) Click 'Properties'.
5) Select the 'Custom' tab.
6) 'Mic Boost' is on this page. Enable or disable it as required.

Re: Mic Boost

Thanks for the reply but there is a problem with it. My custom tab does not have the mic boost option. I was actually able to go into the registry and searched for MicBoost and found the reg I needed. It was default set to 0 so I flipped it over to 1 and now everyone can hear me clearly. The location of the MicBoost regedit is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E963-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings

Scroll down on the right hand side and look for MicBoost. Double-click it and put a 1 where there was a 0. Now you have MicBoost and everyone is happy.

Re: Mic Boost

I can only go as far as
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E963-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\
- I have a 0000 entry (and 0001 - 0004) but none of them have a Settings sub key. In fact, none of them have *any* sub keys.

Re: Mic Boost

did you try just doing a search in the regedit? Open regedit and hit ctrl-F and type in "MicBoost" one word. That brought it up for me so hopefully it will work for you to. Good luck.

Re: Mic Boost

I used RegScanner Tool: Alternative to RegEdit find/search of Windows - the 64bit version and ran it administrator and it did not find any reference to it at all.

Then again my mic is not connected right now (have a USB headset for notebooks). perhaps that is why I do not see it....
