Vista - how do you output sound through digital and front jack at same time

i want to output sound through my digital output and through my front jacks at the same time, i.e while watching a movie through my digital output (monitor i.e video extended to my tv) and playing a game at the same time (game on my LCD), with sound coming out my front sound jack for the game. so basically in a nut shell, i want to watch movies and play games at the same time, while the respective sound comes through different outputs.

I don't think you can currently do that with Vista (I certainly can't, anyway).

I find that I have to reconfigure my laptop every time I want to play a DVD through the HDMI port and then reconfigure it again when I've finished. I've seen many others posting about the same issue.

I suspect you will need two sound cards or split the output in some way but I would guess that motherboards will needs two separate circuits to output two distinct channels of sound to seperat outputs

regardless, you still need a way to tell which application which sound output to use, how would you do this.

A lot of games will let you pick the sound if there is more than one installed....

Some Windows applicators will not - and thus using the combination, you'd set the one that the Windows app would use as default and set your game(s) to use the other....
