| Vista ultimate x64 | subwoofer problems hey guys I just built myself a computer and put on vista ultimate 64bit, and everything worked great until i turned on the sound... it seems like 80% of the sound is coming from the subwoofer and only 20% is coming from the speakers. its so annoying and obnoxious! all i can hear is 'thump thump thump' its horrible. ive searched around for hours and i cant find any solution. everything audiowise was perfect just a day ago when i was runnign xp I'm not a huge audio person. my set up is 2 speakers and a subwoofer the software that came with the motherboard is realtek HD audio manager if anybody can help with this problem i would greatly appreciate it |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: subwoofer problems Hi, agk512, and welcome to the forums. With the Realtek drivers, it can be a bit of work getting it to work correctly. First of all, you should make sure your settings are set to use only 2.1 / stereo sound as opposed to 5.1 / 7.1 |

| Vista ultimate x64 | Re: subwoofer problems thanks for the welcome ;-) so i guess i was using the realtek drivers a second ago then i decided to update the driver, but somehow i "lost" the whole program and now im stuck with a high definition audio device... i really dont care what audio program will work, i just want some program that will give me some reasonable sound so i can enjoy my new computer without this rediculous THUMP THUMP THUMP sound shouldnt be a problem, it should just be plug and play like it always is...something else should break. this is absolutely 100% ridiculous. sorry its 3 in the morning and im so frustrated my settings were set as stereo sound until i literally lost the program what else can i do to fix this? |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: subwoofer problems If you update the RealTek drivers, it first uninstalls the old driver, and you'll need to reboot - then probably Windows will install its default driver and you need to run the RealTek driver installer *again*. BTW, it tell you this when you first start the installer for the first time. |

| Vista ultimate x64 | Re: subwoofer problems ok i have the driver down, and its set as stereo - there isnt even an option for 2.1 system i also tried tweaking it so the equalizer is set to treble... but the bass is still overpowering the treble by way to much are there any more audio programs or drivers out there that i could use to help fix this problem? |

| Vista ultimate x64 | Re: subwoofer problems yay! i fixed it after thinking about it i figured out that the subwoofer was trying too hard to produce all the sound...so i just unplugged the subwoofer plug from the audio slot and bam! im good to go! thanks for the inputjohngalt, its greatly apreciated ^.^ |
