Vista - Microphone not working

Hey, I recently Got vista home premium 64 bit and my microphone is not working.

It says microphone is connected and working. (not a headset), but it is not recieving any sound. My speakers do work.

I have a x-48 ds4 motherboard, by the way.
All drivers are updated, it just doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Either try that mic in another computer or try another mic in this computer....

it works on another computer.

One other thing - make sure the mic is not muted in your Sound properties (I always forget to tell people to look for that)

my other mic doesn't work either.

my Mic isn't muted under properties.

Sorry, Donny, I was out of town for 3 months - for some reason the mic jack seems to be shot, since the actual driver is installed *and* the mic actually shows in the sound properties- but have you tried uninstalling and then re-installing the drivers?

Have you updated your Realtek audio drivers from the manufacturer`s site here?

Uninstall your current verion and reinstall with this version then reboot, afterwards It should make the Microphone input work correctly

Guys need help, i'm frustrated (or how do you spell it).
i viewed all 36 pages with hope to find the answer but i didn't.

my problem is with the microphone.
when i plug it in a popup pops and say that i conected something in the mic socket.
the audio device manager from realtek is poping the device selecting window where i select that mic was conected.
after that nothing happens, i mean the mike is not working.
i tried to play with the settings in the audio device manager and all i get is just some noise from the speakers (playback niuse) when i try to speak to the mic i can't hear nothing at any volume ranges, tried the boost and nothing happened tried to reise the volume in the speakrs out settings and they are all maximised.
tried to install reinstall all kind of driver versions and nothing same annoying noise.

i have Vista x86 ultimate
intel core2 quad q6600
2 GB ram
and gigabyte mother board GA-P35-DS3L with alc888 realtek audio chipset.

pls help me it's driving me crazy.

i have the exact problem with my microphone.
tried many driver versions ans still the same result.
pls help me with that.

Rodman, did you read the rest of the thread, and try the mic in another computer or another mic in this computer?

And please don't post *problems* in a sticky (informational) thread.
