| Vista Ultimate x64 | Onboard cmedia sound problem - Help please! Hi, I have the 64bit version of vista ultimate, and the onboard cmedia card has been working fine since I got the computer. (got it last month). The card is the C-Media CM6501 Like Sound device. The problem started when I tried plugging my electric guitar into the microphone jack on the computer so I could record myself playing. Somewhere around that time, the sound messed up. Everything sounds fuzzy now on my speakers. I THINK that the problem has something to do with the microphone port on the card but I'm not exactly sure. The reason I think it's the microphone port is 'cause when i open up the recording control, the computer seems to think that there is ALOT of noise going into the microphone. Even if its not plugged in. I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing the device, but i still get the microphone level problem, and the sound stays messed up! ![]() THE PROBLEM!! : Microphone level is maxed out permanently. Even with no mic plugged in. Whats going on ![]() If you can fix this, you are my hero! EDIT: I'm now 100% sure the problem has something to do with the microphone device on the cmedia device. When I disable the mic device, the sound works fine. Hope this narrows it down a bit! Last edited by merrick_89; 08-10-2008 at 06:20 PM.. |

The weird thing is it worked fine all along. Its like all of a sudden, the card thinks theres a constant stream of noise going into my mic :S |

| Windows Vista™ Ultimate | Re: Onboard cmedia sound problem - Help please! Hey Merrick, The Drivers you have been using from CD do not apply to Vista, They are for XP and you should only be using the proper ADI audio drivers for your motherboard.. Goto this link and download the ADI Audio Drivers for your motherboard: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us Cheers Steven |
