SOLVED - Pop noise on startup/shutdown, x64 Ultimate, HP tx2510us tablet

Hello everyone, i've just taken a headfirst dive into vista and as far as i can tell, besides the UAC, im becoming quite fond of it.

heres the backstory for my issue.

Purchased a HP tx2510us tablet, it came with vista home premium, I had a copy of Vista ultimate off of the computer my parents bought(they "down"graded to xp pro). downloaded all the drivers off the HP website, wiped the HD and installed vista Ultimate x64. Then i reinstalled all the drivers(the x64versions, i made sure of that.

Now the issue. Whenever I turn on or off my computer. the speakers pop. This also happens if the speakers are muted. I'm not sure if this is a driver issue, or somthing else. any help would be appreacieated.

EDIT* The popping noise also happens when the windows bootup sound plays.

We have the same computer [I love mine after two months with it], and mine does the same thing from the factory. I don't think anything can be done.

Now that i have the computer set up i've noticed that the sound problems happen all the time. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers with no luck.

You mean after the computer is running, the speakers still 'pop'?

@ Brian: That is correct.

SOLVED. After looking arond on other forums the issue seems to be interferance with the A band of the A/B/G/N broadcom wireless chip.

Solution(not mine, taken from another forum, thanks to W-Soap and Azuryu)

Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network Adaptors -> Broadcom whatever -> Advanced -> Disable Bands -> the one with A in it.

Hope this helps somone else

I have a new HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I like to run 2- OS VISTA home and Vista ultimate. When I installed vista ultimate "on the other partition" I started to hear a pop sound on shutdown. The first thing I did was to try and isolate the problem by muting my speakers to see if It was a speaker thing and sure enough when muting there was no more pop, So I want it fixed!!!!!!!! I went on line to HP and downloaded a new and updated sound driver for free. Yes ! no mute and no pop. Anyway I just wanted to tell you the best place to get the drivers you need is from HP and they will even scan your PC and give you a list of the drivers you need. I recommend you download all your drivers and save them to CD for easy install later, so if you have a driver problem GO TO THE? :geek: NICE

I have a popping noise too, but lost my internal speakers and microphone when the popping started. Any advice on how to get back my internals. BIG problem!
