New installation of Vista Ultimate 64 on AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core 4400+ on ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I have Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Music sound card. Initially installed soundblaster disk with no sound. Removed all Creative software and drivers. Reinstalled from website for Vista OS.
I've reseated the card, multiple updates, etc. I have 10 hrs invested at this point.
Following errors:
When mouse over speaker - "No Audio Ouput Device is installed"
In Device Manager for Sound - The Multimedia Audio Controller Properties under Device Status "No drivers are installed for this device"
When I try to update the Multimedia Audio Controller I get the following on Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM) - "This operation returned because the timeout period expired."
Every time the system reboots the system installs the Multimedia Audio Controller driver and says it is successful.
Need help!
