Having trouble changing Realtek HD audio to 5.1 speaker configuration

Help, as I try to do this. The option is greyed out and all I can select is Stereo. Is there a way to force the ability of the option?

based on your attached image I can't see any 5.1 speaker on your system. are you sure what you have is a 5.1 speaker? i thought 5.1 speaker consists of 5 speakers (2 fronts + 2sides/rear + 1 center) + 1 subwooper. and it should be connected on your pc by three jacks (beige, green and black) kindly check your speaker again mate.

Re: Having trouble changing Realtek HD audio to 5.1 speaker configuration

Well, I have a headphone input, microphone input and a SDPIF input. I plugged a headphone to 5.1 converter adapter from my laptop to the 5.1 system. So I can see how it won't pick up the 5.1 speakers but in XP I was able to force the configuration. Is there any way I can do that with this program?
