:confused:I thought downloading this new version of Realtek driver was a good idea.
So I tried to do it fowllowing what was written on Vista forum.
It successfully unabled my previous version, and conveniently failed
to install the new version. My PC is now deaf.

How can I undo this unstall, or better, how can I find the download site?
It is now impossible to go to the download site thru Vista forum. (and why
is that???)

And other sites try to sell this stupid Driver Detective software and not
the Realtek update.

Please, anyone, direct me to where I can download Realtek new version,
or else, tell me how to undo the uninstall I did.

Wow, it works, thank you very much, SIW2
I was really scared for a moment.

This update thing is often a pain in the neck for PC semi-literate like me.
And there are guys like the creator of Driver Detective
who are trying to make money out of telling people what was wrong
(all according to them) with your PC.

Thanks kindly, you are a gent.

Hi Tomo,

The first time you use the installer it will uninstall your current drivers and reboot so it doesnt conflict with the new drivers, after the reboot you just have to run the installer a second time to install the new version ;)

Hi Steve

Thanks a lot for the reply. I just tried for the second or thrid time and
managed to get the sound back. I cannot remember how exactly
I did it, but having read what you wrote, suddenly I am not sure whether
I installed the new version or simply got the old one back.

How can I found out the version of Realtek that I am using??:sarc:

Hi

If you got the newest from softpedia - it's v2.03 - probably newer that you originally had. Apparently v2.04 is just out - if, like me, you are unable to connect to Realtek site, suggest you use 2.03 until 2.04 is available from softpedia.

To find out lots about your machine and what's on it , get the free SIW

Hope you like it

Hi Tom,

Just in case you missed Steven's post, the download site we could not get through to the other day seems to be working fine now.

You should now be able to get the newest version from the Vista Forum Link

Realtek

Thanks, Steven
