| vista ultimate x64 | Memory Leak problem with AUDIODG.EXE ! Need help I recently purchased a new Creative XFI Titanium PCI xpress sound card. Before this I was having no problems with audiodg.exe and memory usage. I have tried various driver versions from creative and still could not fix the problem. I noticed that my memory usage of audiodg.exe will be upwards of +500mb and continue to consume memory. Another observation I have made is that it seems to consume more and more ram every time I push to talk under the ventrillo program. If anyone has a work around or some info on correcting the problem it would help me a ton! Thank You |

| Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit | Re: Memory Leak problem with AUDIODG.EXE ! Need help I was browsing across the web for about 5 hours and I just wanted to share all the information I have learned about this problem. Currently I have my task manager to the right of my Mozilla window and "audiodg.exe" is using 1.66GB of RAM (thank god I have 8GB) and I get crackling and stutters in audio processing. What I have learned so far: -The problem is most common with Creative X-Fi cards it seems, though I have read two other out of 14 that was a Audigy 2 and one unknown. (Still seems like creative) -It has nothing to do with updated drivers as of today (12/3/08) as I have the latest. I belive the problem is caused by sound effects, such as reverb and other sorts of EQ and enviomental effects, Audiodg.exe will not close handels after processing modifications of the stream which seems to be related to something I read in the link from the post above. Since audiodg.exe is for more enhancment based audio processing, I believe Creatives audio processing is conflicting and maybe thats whats causing the problem, what I do know is that when I shut off "Reverb" in a game I play the leak stops and opposite when its on. The best solution to this problem is to disable all enhancements in the Creative control panel and sound settings in windows. Also disable reverb and eq in any games or media player. One last thing, there are three people that are already requesting fixes for this solution so the best thing to do is to wait and hope the next time you see that automatic update pop up it says something related to important update windows audio. |

| vista ultimate x64 | Re: Memory Leak problem with AUDIODG.EXE ! Need help Thanks for the reply Killa. I got so frustrated with this problem I took out the Creative sound card and have it sitting outside of the case until the problem is resolved. I like using the effects for various things and I also record my guitar into the computer. With this problem I am unable to use the card properly. Hopefully creative and or microsoft can resolve this problem. |
