Missing "ping" when i alter the volume

I know this is an almost trivial thing but the little details are what make something work smoothly i think so this problem is bugging the hell out of me. When i change the volume on my computer by using the slider, accessed by the little speaker symbol at the bottom right of the windows taskbar, it always made a sound whenever i changed the volume. Now, for some reason, there is no "ping" like sound when ichange it. Why is this and how do i fix it?

Thanks.

Fixed the problem now. Thanks anyway. It was a problem with quite a few sounds but easily fixed by going through the sound properties in control panel.

Great!

So, what did you do to solve the problem?
In case somebody else has the same missing-sounds issue.

The other day i was messing with a microphone and must have done something with the default windows sounds. When i checked, the sounds were all off (the properties were set to "no sounds"). Don't know exactly how it got like that because i didn't directly do it myself But i just had to set it back to "Default Windows" sounds and it solved the problem. Didn't think of it sooner because i hadn't done anything that should have knocked it off.
