Vista - Only default audio??

Ok, I am new to the site and didn't know if I should put this in here or in drivers but since it is any kind of sound I choose here. I can not get any sound driver to register in windows vista x64. I just built a new computer and everything works well except my Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer. When I try to install the latest driver the install times out. The card is recognised every time I reboot, and there is an entry for it in the device manager. I tried to go into the device manager and manually assign the driver to the device and when I do it says it accepts ok but I get a BSOD on restart. This is my primary concern although my SoundMax onboard audio will not register a driver either. I did it manually and when I restart it says driver could not be loaded, please reinstall. Sorry for the lengthy post just tring to get all the info in.
