Vista - No Sound Hardware Installed

I have a dell inspiron 1420 with vista and it says no sound hardware installed. i checked the dirvers and it said 2 had problems, uninstalled them and restarted. then it said that there were about 8 with problems. NEED HELP!!!!

have you checked dell's website to see if there is a download of the drivers....

also, is there a notification message when you first sign into the computer saying "Found New Hardware". because it should if it finds the device but there is no driver installed/recognised

one more thing - do you have Realtek HD audio manager installed???

i have downloaded the drivers from dell and it hasnt solved the problem

if they worked before you installed the latest drivers, i would suggest you rollback the driver to the previous installed driver.

if you had a problem with the previous, i would suggest trying to find out what drivers came factory installed on the system and try and download of the Net/DELL. beware, there may be viruses/spyware within the downloads (dependent on where you get it from) and it is recommended that you have anti-virus set to ON.

i had installed the drivers as a solution to the problem. i did not install them before the problem, and it just happened. but i had resolved the problem using system restore back a month
