| Vista Home Premium 64bit + Ubuntu | Rundll32.exe error = No Sound! Hi there, I've just returned to these forums after a long spell away following a total system failure requiring reformatting. I got so sick of my pc I stopped using it for a few months. Now I've reformatted (AGAIN!) and I'm starting to have problems again... I have no sound and when I click on the Sound icon in the Control Panel I get a rundll32.exe error message. Code: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: rundll32.exe Application Version: 6.0.6000.16386 Application Timestamp: 4549bb52 Fault Module Name: mmsys.cpl Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386 Fault Module Timestamp: 4549d2a3 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0000000000005371 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: e094 Additional Information 2: 07a0e9595b24741d2d20ba6b23d695c9 Additional Information 3: 6dc9 Additional Information 4: b9430fc1bfd395cd40720d6c0f75b33e If it's relevant I also cannot open the User Accounts settings under Control Panel or open Display Settings. I also have an account missing from my logon screen. Can anyone help please? Many thanks! |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit + Ubuntu | Re: Rundll32.exe error = No Sound! I had previously tried disabling my sound device and rebooting but that didn't work. I just tried to uninstall my sound device but now my device manager won't open! I get the following message in the device manager window: MMC Could not create the snap in. The snap in might not have been installed correctly. CLSID: {74246BFC-4C96-11D0-ABEF-0020AF6B0B7A} |

| VISTA HOME PREMIUM X64/ 7 x64 / 7x86 | Re: Rundll32.exe error = No Sound! Hello wapwap, Strange you are getting so many errors soon after a clean reinstall. If I couldn't run the SFC command , I would try a repair install - unless Steven has a better idea Repair Install For Vista Hope it helps SIW2 |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit + Ubuntu | Re: Rundll32.exe error = No Sound! Thanks for the advice, I'll try a repair install and if that doesn't help I'll reformat....again! **UPDATE** Help!!! I did a repair install but now for some reason my copy of Vista isn't authenticating as genuine when it is! I waited till my pc booted after the repair install before putting my key in but now I have a message in the bottom right of my screen saying THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE! The problem I had with sound is fixed, but it seems kind of irrelevant now compared to a genuine copy of Vista losing authenticity for some reason. **2ND UPDATE** Did a phone activation then rebooted. The "...not genuine" message has gone from my desktop. Appears to be fine now. Thank you for all your help! Last edited by wapwap; 10-13-2008 at 06:38 AM.. Reason: UPDATE |
