Audio Stutter in Vista home premium 64

Hello

I, like it seems a fair few people, am suffering from an audio stutter in windows vista home premium 64.

My current system is
As rock 939NF4G-SATA2 motherboard
which has generic microsoft HD audio driver installed
and Realtek AC'97 driver 6.0.1.6285 installed.

I am unsure if I should be able to get the Realtek HD driver installed, I have tried the latest versions but they will not install no matter how many times I restart.

My graphics card is a Sapphire ATI radeon HD 4670

at the moment I am not sure if it is a graphics or audio or network or HD driver issue,

if anyone has gotany tips let me know

Thanks

Ian

Hello Ian and welcome to the vista forums,

the latest AC97 vista 64 drivers are here ...

Realtek

these date from May this year but may be later than the ones available from MS.

Would imagine that board would require the HD audio drivers which are available from the same Realtek site
you may want to remove the existing drivers completely from Device manager, (should be an option to remove all files when you go through the un-install) before you try and install the drivers direct from Realtek
I haven't seen any report of this problem being solved anywhere, but you may want to try disabling all enhancements in both the driver and WMP11 to see if this workaround improves things.

Hi Ian and welcome to Vista Forums

The ALC850, as fitted to your motherboard, is an AC'97 device which therefore requires the AC'97 drivers. Problems can arise when incorrect drivers are used. I recommend that you completely uninstall any audio drivers on your system (including the generic HD driver from Microsoft) and install the drivers available from Realtek. When you download them, save the file to disk and then install from there. Don't be tempted to install directly from Realtek. Realtek
