Unable to change volume

Recently had a Computer problem and for no reasons I had been asked to reintall Norton AntiVirus. Then my com sorta had flashing digits and words during the restart. After it the sound menu sorta spoilt? Whenever i click on it, it just opens up and immediately closed.I tried accessing the control panel too, but it couldnt work.

Help?

Re: Unable to change volume

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by a problem - was it malware?

What asked you to reinstall Norton ?

When you uninstalled Norton did you use their special uninstall tool ?

Did you replace it with a good antivirus/ malware program ?

What is the make and model of the machine you are using?

Thanks

Re: Unable to change volume

Hi,

Not sure if Infostealer ahs been completely removed - even if it has , it can cause odd behaviour. The W32 virus may be the Blaster worm - suggest you download the special removal tool from the top left of this link

W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool - Symantec.com

Scan thoroughly and follow any instructions.

Then download, install, update and do a thorough scan with the free Malwarebytes

Malwarebytes.org

Hope it helps

Re: Unable to change volume

Erm trying out malwarebyte now.The W32Blast thingy gave me an error which says:

You do not have administrator rights to run this tool.Pleasy contact your network administrator for more information.

I am the only user on this desktop and i have been using the same account since the day i bought my dekstop. My account has already been created when i started using my pc.
