X-fi Fatal1ty Soundblaster Won't Work After Format & Clean OS Install...

I needed to reinstall my OS due to creative unrelated issues. Once I had done this my 'X-Fi Fatal1ty Soundblaster' refused to install and instead I kept getting the message...

'Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program'

The card has been working for at least the past 4 months without any problems after a new driver update. If I put the card in the bottom slot (have to due to adding another VGA soon) it is just displayed as 'PCI-Device' in the device manager, if I try to install using any software I get the above message. If I put it into the other PCI slot it is recognised as a 'Multimedia Audio Controller' and when I try to install I still get the same message as stated above.

I have rebooted the computer about 100 times trying all sorts, everytime in the bottom PCI slot it is 'PCI-Device' and everytime in the top slot it is 'Multimedia Audio Controller' Once out of all these times in the top slot my computer recognised it and automatically installed the software without me doing anything (top slot) however as soon as it rebooted it was back to 'Multimedia Audio Controller' and the drivers were still installed in add/remove programs.

In the past I have had issues with on the occasional boot it did not think the card was there, but after antoher boot it would remember again, however that stopped a few months ago, since then the only problems I have had was that whenever I restarted my computer it would forget all the setting I had put in e.g. speaker amount, bass redirection...etc

    Hi,
Are you sure you're using the right drivers? I'm using an X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro without any problems so far.

Try this, no guarentees. Put the card back in the previous slot it was in. Remove all creative software thru Programs and Features, before rebooting go into device manager and uninstall Multimedia Audio controller and anything that may be related. Shutdown the computer, not reboot, remove the card from the computer and restart windows and make sure there is no multimedia audio stuff in device manager, reboot once more to make sure then turn off the computer and install the card in the slot you want it to be in.

I hope this will work for you, this is not a creative issue but most likely a motherboard and chipset to windows problem.
