Please Help I'm a Dink

Hey there. Well I'm not computer savvy in any way so please bare with me. I have Windows Vista. I wanted to try listening to my iTunes music on my computer in private so I unplugged the speaker and put in the headphones. It's dark under the desk so I didn't really pay attention to what hole or jack or input or whatever it is you call it...anyway...the headphones didn't work. No sound. So I said, awww, forget this and tried to plug back the speakers. Now only thing is, they don't work either.

I noticed there is a red volume thing on the bottom of my desktop. Not the same as my regular volume thing. Yes "thing"...told you I'm kinda of a tard when it comes to computer lingo. I clicked the red volume thing and Realtek HD Audio Manager appears. Oh, also, when I plugged in the headphones, the Realtek HD Audio manager window popped up...I didn't know what I was supposed to click and may have accidentally clicked wrong options.

Sorry if this sounds so scatterbrained. I hope someone can understand what I wrote and how to solve this problem. Thanks.

Hi HereFerNow,

Make sure that you havePlugged your speakers back into the correct (green) socket

Right click on the speaker symbol in the notification area, select playback devices and ensure that speakers is the default. See attached picture mine is in German but the images are the same.

Hope this helps
