| Vista Ultimate x64 | Mic Problems with Vistax64 (SB Audigy2Z & Headset) Hi guys, Long time reader, first time poster. Anyway, I see to be having a rather odd problem with my Vista, Headset Mic, and Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS card. Ive searched and searched for a solution to this problem on this board but nothing seems to working. here's my deal: I have the correct drivers installed for my Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS card. I am able to hear the Mic on my headset loud and clear on both headphones and speakers. This is the weird part. Everything says its connected and working, and yet, STEAM won't detect anything coming from my mic and neither will Sound Recorder in Vista. I can hear the mic perfectly when I un-mute it in playback, but for some really weird reason, none of the software I try to use it with can detect the sound when I speak into it when it can all be heard clearly? Any ideas? I have the latest sound blaster drivers for my card and even installed the new beta one for this model and still no luck. I'm stumped ![]() About my system: 2x AMD Opteron 246 2.0GHz Processors ATI 256 X1800 Graphics Card 6GB of RAM Custom Built system (not a Dell or HP) |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Mic Problems with Vistax64 (SB Audigy2Z & Headset) Magnum Child welcome to the forums. First thing to do is make sure that it is set to Microphone and not "What U Hear" in the Vista Recording properties, |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Mic Problems with Vistax64 (SB Audigy2Z & Headset) Steam, or the games that require Steam? In any case as far as I know the only way to get proper sound (and by extension, microphone) when using a Creative card is to use Alchemy as well (if you don't have it already), ALchemy - Home and how to set it up with Source based games, Games - Source Engine Games Set 1 Games - Source Games "Orange Box" Can't really tell for sure as I don't have Steam (and never will, but that is a tale for another thread). If all else fails you can always try the Daniel_K drivers, http://danielkawakami.blogspot.com/2...2180001eq.html If you do try them make sure to select Custom install, and only install the apps you want/need. |

| Vista x64 | Re: Mic Problems with Vistax64 (SB Audigy2Z & Headset) The Creative drivers for the old Audigy2 and Vista leave much to be desired. Try Googling the Daniel K drivers for Audigy2. They do work better. |
