| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: vista update crashing c media sound re330 Welcome to the forums. This a C-Media update through Windows Update? If so it sounds like you have Automatic Update enabled and set to download and install any updates found. If so you might want to consider setting it to "download but don't install"; #4 here, Windows Update - Windows Automatic Updating and the next time the C-Media update shows up, opt to not install it and then hide it, Windows Update As far as having to re-install Vista to fix the problem have you tried all the usual, 1. Uninstall the update through Programs and Features (and clicking on the "View installed updates" link on the left, may be here or in the regular list of programs). 2. Rolling back the driver for the headset in Device Manager (locate the headset, double click on it, Driver tab, "Roll back driver"). Last edited by stormy13; 12-18-2008 at 08:49 PM.. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: vista update crashing c media sound Quote: and it wont show up in instaled updates?? As far as the rollback option being grayed out it is only available if the driver has been updated at some point in time. Now for the bad news regarding C-Media audio device users, Quote: Due to the expiration of Sensaura license, the driver download site will be temporarily suspended. We will reopen the download site when the new driver is available. and has been that way since late September of this year. Means that you are stuck with whatever driver was available from the device manufacturer (Auzentech, BGears, HT Omega, etc) prior to that date, until such time as C-Media re-negotiates the Sensura license or finds an alternative. P.S. What is the make and model number of your headset? CM108 is just the audio chip in it, not who the headset was made by. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: vista update crashing c media sound Have you tried it with the drive available from eDimensional? eDimensional 3D Glasses and Innovative PC Gaming Accessories If it won't install open Device Manager and locate the headset, right click and select Uninstall and if it asks about uninstalling the driver, click yes. Reboot if required and if the Found New Hardware Wizard pops up cancel it and install the driver from eDimensional. If Vista tries to auto-install a driver for it (still haven't seen how you stop that from happening), let it finish and then install the driver over the top. If that doesn't solve it uninstall through Device Manager again, and before rebooting (if necessary) unplug the headset, reboot and then try installing the driver without the headset installed. It should ask for you to plug the headset in, but may also fail if the headset isn't in first (won't know till you try). |
