[FONT=Verdana, Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Hey there, i am having a problem with my Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - the microphone doesn't want to work... oddly. I have tried the sound setting but it doesn't seem to work.
I started of by going to Sound > Recording > then it says three thing:
Microphone .... with a tick beside it ... working
Microphone FP .... Not Plugged in (When it clearly is)(Headset comes with detachable Mic)
Digital In... working.

Also when i try fiddle with the setting to enable the microphone it does not let me "configure" it .... and when i try set up the microphone it doesn't want to start up unless i disable the microphone it would say "Wizard could not start"

My Microphone is not on mute and the the jacks are correctly colour coded in place.
My sound Cards is : Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
Headset: Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - Noise Cancellation Microphone with Gold Plated 3.5mm Jack
It the one with the detachable microphone - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/128208

The microphone is defiantly working when i configure the speakers, so that i can speak through the microphone and hear out the speakers but i can't record

i have the same headset and i havent had any problems, i dont think the issue is with the headset itself but rather it being with the soundblaster, any chance you could take a snip of the sound inputs for me to try and establish a bit more information?
(select snipping tool and window snip, highlight the input window and left click)
example below.

Thanks for replying MrNeeds
Umm no i don't think it is the sound card because today i was changing the setting for the sound.... the setting under recording that it... and i found that when i disabled "digital in" my microphone started to pick up sound.
I think, but im not sure that "digital in" is for USB headsets or microphones and the headset im using is analogue.

Please correct me if im wrong :geek:

your sound card is an x-fi so its similar to the digital input on my sound card, and disabling it has defaulted the device to analogue.

Microphones are Mono so you cannot select stereo, the settings i see are fine, if your not having anymore problems then leave them as they are.
If your worried about the digital device not working then all you have to do is enable it again, it should keep the analog device as default, if it does switch back, all you have to do is click this (see picture below) while making sure you highlight the microphone.
digital audio refers to digital outputs and inputs built onto the card, "S/PDIF" connections. sony/philips digital interconnect format or sony/philips digital interface

Hi funmachine, welcome, to get to that screen shown above, simply right click your sound icon in the notification area(bottom right of the screen) and choose recording devices, set as appropriate there :-)

Hi there.
My husband just bought the Creative fatility gaming headsets and had simluar problems to what everyone seems to be describing.
After a little looking around, I saw a post somewhere else about changing the wires from the back plugs to the front, so we tried it, and like magic it worked.

Hopefully that helps some of you.

Greetings Mr. Needs,

I've been using this Creative Fatality Headset for over a year with no problems, but suddenly this week the mic stopped working.

I've tried:
Different headset on this computer - same issue, I can hear but cannot use mic. My icon lights up on vent when I push to talk, but no one can hear me.
This headset on different computer - works fine.
Updated Windows.

Under my Control Panel>Sound>Recording, it shows:
Headset (Record) - Working
Microphone - Not plugged in
Line In - Not Plugged in
Realtek Digital Input - Working
Stereo Mix - Working

Can you offer me some words of wisdom?

Thank-you!

Hey people, I have an issue with this Fatal1ty Gaming headset. As I have seen many people had trouble with this one and I am no exception. I tried a lot, disable this, enable that and back and forth. The phones are just fine but the mic still won't work. I would appreciate any help.
