I recently connected my computer to a 19" LCD tv and the picture is great but i don't know how to make the sound come out of the tv. Please help if you can. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

There should be a cable that connects to the sound card in your PC and then connects to the graphic card in your PC to allow the HDMI to handle the sound output.

I might not be 100% correct, though.

HDMI cable does not transfer sound. That is why DVI cable was invented, which takes the high quality video from HDMI, and adds sound. You'll need to connect a separate cable from your computer to your speakers.

My Computer

not by itself anyway...
the video card has to say something like DVI audio
or HDMI audio....

edit:but i know HD2600 and above do have the 5.1 sound on the HDMI output at least on ATi anyways HD48xx have 7.1

DVI doesn't carry audio.

I'm pretty sure HDMI does, and with HDMI graphic cards, an extra cable needs to connect from the sound device to the graphic card so the audio can be carried through the HDMI interface.

AFAIK, that's for use with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter.

yes true but that is what Zoloft means (at least what i think he means)
and like you see it does carry audio

and like i said HD2600xt and above (for ati) have the hdmi+audio built in and carry it thorough to the tv (thats why i asked him what video card he's using)

My Computer

Yea I'm aware of them cards, and from what I've seen on the net, to get the audio through HDMI, a separate cable needs to be attached, and I was thinking it might be why he's not getting any sound through the TV :p

And a very nice card it is too. I like mine. I don't use HDMI audio, so can't say if it works.

Norm

i might get one and exchange it for my ati card..lol
