How do I re-enable internal Realtek speakers?

I lost sound to my pc a while back. Finally had time to sort it out. It was showing realteck speakers not plugged in - they are within the pc, so I tried unplugging things and rebooting to no effect. I then tried disabling and restarting, only problem is I can't work out how to enable them. The files are there, but when I go into control panel sound and manage audio devices it says there aren't any. Even right clicking to show disabled devices doesn't help. Ideas anyone?

I take it that we are talking about an Advent system, possibly a laptop/notebook. What is the model number (look for a sticker attached to your system)?

IT is a standalone desktop PC. Advent are down as the manufacturer on the system information. There is a sticker at the side saying CyberLink Power2Go5 if that is any help.

I am having onboard speaker problems too. Since I got my Toshiba A205-S6808 back from the Toshiba repair hub my right speaker doesn't' work. I have checked for updates but my updater says everything is current. I thought if I re-installed the realtek High Definition Audio driver it might help. Unfortunately I haven't had any success (my device manager says it is up to date and working)...wrong. Maybe this one will be an easy one for someone. I hope to hear soon. Thanks! Wendy
BTW:Using Vista HP, with dolby sound room, laptop

pc's dont have internal speakers unless they are laptops, desktop pc's dont have internal speakers, try some headphones in the audio jack at the back of the PC and see if you have sound from there, or get some speakers off a friend to try out.

I mean the whole kit and caboodle when I say pc. They I believe are in the screen/VDU/monitor or whatever you call it (you'll have gathered by now I'm not technical). If they are not, I don't know where the sound came out before - they used to work. I have already tried plugging in external speakers and nothing happens.

Yay, after much clicking I managed to sort it. I now have sound. we updated the drivers and still no sound, then following the link from help (I typed in soundcard and then followed the link to definition) to the soundcard, I then right clicked and found an option to enable. Voila the speaker showed and I now have sound, albeit through external ones only, but thanks to those who tried. Hope this may help others - I'm giving up with whatever worked before I plugged in the external speakers.

can you take a screenshot of your audio panel? like mine illustrated below, to do this, just type "snipping tool" into the start menu search bar and hit return, and highlight where you want to snip, save as "audio.jpg" and upload to here by clicking quote on me and scroll down to "manage attachments", click on that, browse-- find audio.jpg in pictures and submit reply

disregard all that stuff lol, just read your reply :D

I think I managed that - thanks for giving me step by step instructions. It doesn't seem to have as much on that screen now as it did before I disabled the speakers, but at least I have sound.
