| Vista Home Premium 32bit | stacsv64.exe Eating Processor Cycles Brand new HP Pavilion dv7-1245 notebook running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Whenever I boot up the processor gets taken over by stacsv64.exe. Checking Task Manager I see that this process belongs to IDT PC audio. When I end the process the audio still works and the processor cycles drop to half. However, this occurs every time that I boot up the machine. Any ideas? Thanks! |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: stacsv64.exe Eating Processor Cycles you could disable it from starting up, it appears to be the software for configuring your audio device, its not needed to make your audio work, go to start menu and type in the search bar "msconfig" and hit return, this will open up the system configuration utility, the tabs at the top, one will say services, click on that, click on the check box saying hide all microsoft services(for precautionary measures) and see if IDT PC audio is listed there or sigmatel audio service, if not, click on startup tab and look for it in there, if it is, then uncheck it and apply, restart your system and voila. There will be a warning message when you restart saying that the system configuration utility was used, just check the box saying dont show this message again, and you're good to go. |
