alright where to begin, I recently bought an Acer desktop:
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home premium 64-bit
Processor: Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 stepping 13 GenuineIntel
BIOS Manufacturer: American Megatrends Inc.R01-B1
BIOS Version: 2.5
Computer Model: Aspire X1700
System Manufacturer: Acer
Processor: Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz, and 2.40GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB
Audio: Built-in Realtek High Definition Audio Device

I was using it one day and out of the blue mid-day my sound just stopped working so naturally I set out to fix the problem, I checked to see what wasn't working. realtek was showing audio output but I still wasn't getting sound, then I found when I plug in my speakers or other audio device into the jack/ports my computer won't detect that device. Here's a list of things I've already tried:

update drivers through device manager
update drivers by downloading from the realtek site
rolling back to older drivers
installing older drivers
Checking BIOS to see if it's enabled
checking realtek sound manager to see if output is selected
going to device manager to check if anything isn't working
Doing a system restore
Checking system memory
Virus scanning my computer with mcafee, and panda
checking my system for spyware with adware
booting with a different OS (same problem)
Talking to Acer Technical Support
Reading any form about vista sound problems
Trying all jack/ports
Turning up the volume
ect...

Any help would be much needed

Thanks
