Ok man its been a long time since i was on here. Anyway I bought a logitech webcam it had a built in mic and all that jazz, before I installed it I had a Sound Blaster XFi Xtreme Audio sound card in there, it worked fine no issues. When I hooked in and installed my logitech webcam my microphone no longer works on my headset I dunno if i disabled somethign or what I tried doing a system restore but to no avail if anyone is able to help with this that will be appreciated.

Check the Vista audio properties on under Recording and make sure the mic for your headset is set as default.

What software are you trying to use this is?

If something like Skype, then you also have to select your audio source withing that software.

I've also noticed with Skype that you shouldn't set it to load at windows startup or some of the audio/video drivers aren't installed yet (boot sequence) and you can end up without sound or audio separately or together....

Also- what kind of computer/laptop?

The USB microphone is the webcam, right?

Have you tried removing the webcam and then trying your headset?

What kind of headset is it? It says plantronics, but is it USB, bluetooth, or 1/8th inch?

If it is USB and the webcam is also plugged in, try moving it to another USB port and away from the webcam. Also, are you running it through a USB hub?

This is a desktop, right?

Desktop USB ports can provide more power, whereas laptops are limited. Unpowered USB hubs are also limited in both power and bandwidth. (This is not a technology limitation, but high bandwidth devices normally use more power, so this is *mostly* the case)

Silly question, but does your headset have a mute button? And be sure it is plugged in ALL the way. It doesn't take batteries, does it?

I've use a few plantronics items in the past, but don't know your particular model.
