Mic only records left audio

I recently (today) bought a Philips SBCMD650/00 microphone, plugged into my soundcard (pink rear 3.5 mm plug) and was trying it out, only it seems that my mic only records the left, if i use the playback function it only uses the left side, if i look in SAM Broadcaster, it only uses it's left side, the right side does have some sound, but it's only some background noise, no real sound. (produces background noise even if it's turned off) I want to take it back to the shop i bought it and trade it in for a new one (have 2 weeks time to do that) but i wonder if it is able to make sure my microphone records monotone, and not stereo. I'm only going to use it for Radio presentations so if someone knows an solution in SAM broadcaster to make it monotone, it will work to.
