Both laptop jacks (headphone and mic)not working :(

Okay, i had this virus that even my mum couldnt get of (she is the ict manager and finance instructer of the company she works for) so i took it to the shop to get it fixed soo while i was there i thought hmmm why not get vista ? because i asked my mum like 6 months earlyer if i could get it and she advised against it becuase it wasnt stable yet or something but i asked her recently and she said it should be okay now ... anyway i got vista on it and when i got home to go on it i put my headphones in and the sound carried on coming out of the speakers :S so i treid all the headphones i owned and they didnt work so i tried to plug in a mic and the laptop ignored it also :S so i dont realy know what to do.. i looked for updates and downloaded a few driver search things and one of them made my sound go of all-together saying i had no sound or recording devices so i system restored and got my sound back to were it was in the first place.
my laptop is Toshiba Satellite L310 (if that helps)

Any help will be greatly apreciated

thanks

edit: also in sound control panel when i press preview it works :S

Hi Rhys, Welcome to the forum.

Click on Start, type sound into Start Search, Click on Sound.
Under the Playback tab make sure that Headset is shown and enabled (right click)
If it is not shown highlight any of the devices right cklick and select show disabled devices
Click on the Recording tab and do the same for your microphone

I hope this helps

Re: Both laptop jacks (headphone and mic)not working :(

do this

To - Realtek HD Audie Manager

- Audio On / Off

- Connector Setting

- Select Disable front panel jack detection...

That should do the trick... It worked for me...
