HP- dv7
Vista Home Premium 64bit w/ service pack 1
2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4 GB of DDR2 system memory
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M

Bought this laptop bout 6 months ago.. the sound worked perfect. Then it started to get choppy listening to MP3s... Doesnt matter if its in: winamp, quicktime, itunes, media player it is all the same.. Same with videos. I have to hit pause on videos so it loads the video first then MAYBe it will play a lil better.

I actually did a factory reformat so it was like when i got it thinkin it would clear the problem and in fact it didnt.. so im really lost

the drivers are up to date.

any help would be great... i hate going to my desktop to listen to music

when i get home i will upload what i see and hear for you. Maybe get a better understanding what im dealing with

Hey milehigh, Welcome to the Forum.

Have you tried?...Right click on your speaker symbol, select Playback Devices, Select the Speaker option and configure your drivers.

Try also to turn off any sound effects as these can also cause choppy sound problems.

With Videos you mention having to wait for it to load first, Is this from the internet?
If yes, then it is a problem with your download speed and has nothing to do with Vista or your Sound card, The only options you have is to wait, or get a quicker connection.

I hope this helps
